He was born Dec. 24, 1957, in Elkhart to Lawrence and Daisy (Johnson) Harris.

He is survived by his companion, Bobbie Pratcher of Fort Wayne; two sons, Jermail A. and Anthony D. Harris, both of Elkhart; one daughter, Katrina D.A. Harris of Elkhart; five grandchildren; two sisters, Karen D. Harris of Elkhart and Dawn K. Harris of South Bend; one brother, Lawrence (Carmela) Harris Jr. of Antioch, Calif.; and his mother of Elkhart.

His father preceded him in death.

Friends may call one hour prior to Wednesday's 1 p.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, with the Rev. Lefate Owens of Community Missionary Baptist Church, Elkhart, officiating. Cremation will take place. No burial is scheduled. Military honors will be rendered by Elkhart DAV 19 and the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard.

Mr. Harris was a 1976 graduate of Memorial High School and served in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division in South Korea. He worked for Meijer Supermarkets in the Fort Wayne area for the past five years until his health required his early retirement.

He liked his job and enjoyed working with the customers and his fellow employees. He was known for his never-ending sense of humor, and enjoyed watching comedies on TV and making people laugh.
