ELKHART — Darlene Y. Johnson, 73, of Elkhart, passed away at 1:04 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen after a battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 19, 1939, in Plainville to the late Nathen C. and Jeannette (Gould) Gregory.
Surviving are her children, Rodger C. Johnson and Teresa Johnson, both of Elkhart, and Shelly Rush of Goshen; sisters Devonna (Leland) Sanders of North Manchester and Patricia Gregory of Elkhart; and brothers Kenneth (Lori) Gregory of Goshen and Art (Grace) Gregory of Elkhart. Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Swede.
Darlene retired from Bayer Corp. (Miles) and formerly worked in the RV industry and for Strauss Bakeries.
Darlene was a 1957 graduate of Washington High School and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, doing crafts and embroidery.
At her request, cremation has taken place and private family visitation was held.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
