Obituary

Darlene Sue Calvo-Nelson

5-14-1942 to 5-14-2026

Born Darlene Sue Loney to George and Marjory Loney of Elkhart, though most people knew her as Susie and those of us who loved her knew her as Mom or GG.

She grew up in Elkhart and graduated from Elkhart High School.

She worked in the community at White Hall, and as both a waitress and bartender at Fly Traps and Casey’s.

She helped design and build her own home.

Later she rejoined the workforce after training on how to run their Main frame computers in the St. Joseph Valley Data Center, which she took over running at night.

Later in life she became a local business owner and eventually got her Section Three Commodities License and went to work for Raymond James which she loved.

She loved to travel and going out west; Las Vegas and Reno were two of her favorites.

She has an uncanny ability to be able to pick out Slot Machines that were getting ready to payout.

She said she could walk down the aisles and they would talk to her.

She also loved spending time in Florida and her dream was to buy a sailboat and retire on it but unfortunately, she never got to fulfill that dream.

She loved her family very much as we all loved her and miss her deeply.

She is survived by her sister, Carmen Rozycki; her sons, Troy Stutsman and Micah Calvo; her daughter-in-law, Teresa Stutsman; her granddaughter, Ashley Walker; her great grandsons, Troy Coggins, Noah Walker, and Bailey Walker; her niece, Kirsten Davis and her husband, Jeff Davis; her nephew, Kirk Rozycki and his wife Kristy Rozycki, along with several of their children who all knew her as Aunt Darlene.

She passed quietly in her own bed at home surrounded by her family as per her wishes of natural causes.

She did not want a funeral or viewing.

Everyone knows that she was an animal lover, especially her Kitties, so, instead of flowers we are asking anyone who would like to make a donation to send it to the Elkhart Human Society in her name.

A memorial service will be held at a later date by invitation.

Thank you.
