ELKHART — Mr. Dannie P. Taylor, 56, of Elkhart, was discovered passed away from an apparent sudden illness at his home at 6:12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013.
He was born in Charleston, S.C., to the late Ivan P. and Bertha J. (West) Taylor and married Eda Santiago on July 2, 1983, in Elkhart. She passed away on Jan. 24 of this year.
Surviving are daughters Danielle (Terry Lindsey) Taylor of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Erika (Gerry) Mosqueda of Danbury, Texas; brothers Mel (Gloria) Carl and Davy (Debbie) Taylor, all of Elkhart; sisters Susan Kiefer of Edwardsburg, Freida (Angel) Ramos of North Prince George, Va., Shelia Robinson of Decherd, Tenn., and Melanie Taylor of Clover, S.C.; grandsons Aaden and Tyler Mosqueda of Danbury; granddaughter Carly Ann Lindsey of Edwardsburg; grandmother Benita Santiago of Elkhart; several nieces and nephews; and his nine dogs, who still reside at home.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eda.
In accordance with the family's wishes, Dannie is to be cremated. A celebration of his life will be at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, with visitation beginning at noon followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. Pastor Norman A. Reimer of Nappanee Missionary Church will officiate.
Dannie was a master electrician for the City of Elkhart's wastewater treatment plant for 21 years. He attended Nappanee Missionary Church, where he was baptized this past Aug. 18. He was a natural tradesman with many skills and could fix just about anything. He will be best remembered for his hard work ethic and being an avid Rolling Stones fan.
