Daniel V. Alvarez, 54, of Elkhart, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Memorial Hospital.

Daniel was born on January 2, 1970 in Inglewood, CA to Daniel P. and Rita Alvarez. Daniel was married to Maria Alvarez in 1995.

He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel and his brother, Javier Alvarez.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Maria Mercado Alvarez; mother, Rita Alvarez; sons, Marcos Alvarez Jr; and Javier Alvarez; daughters,  Alexandra Olguin, Jessica (Jesus) Centeno, Vanessa Alvarez and Fatima Alvarez; grandchildren, Yaretzi, Sophia, Esteban, Ximena, Katalina and Aeon; brothers, Samuel (Elisa) Alvarez, Juan Carlos (Maribel) Alvarez and Baltazar Alvarez; sisters, Rita (Adolfo) Avelar, Mercedes Alvarez and Aurora Alvarez and many nieces and nephews.

Daniel was a welder by trade working at various local businesses around Elkhart; eventually working for himself. He was a skilled mechanic and enjoyed fixing cars with his sons.

Daniel enjoyed collecting his "toys". He also cooked for the people he loved.

Daniel was strong in his beliefs. He was a jokester and also known as the "fun uncle". He was outgoing and enjoyed hanging out with his friends.

Most of all, his family meant the world to him and he will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Mass for Daniel will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46516 with Rev. Eloy Jimenez officiating.

Visitation for the family will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the Mass from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the church.
