CONSTANTINE, Mich. -- Dale Wayne Sailor, 82, of Constantine, formerly of Union, died at 8:45 a.m. Friday (July 9, 2010) at Heartland Healthcare Center in Three Rivers after an extended illness.


He was born March 22, 1928, in South Bend to Ansel R. and Anna L. (Eppers) Sailor. She married Rena McDonald on July 4, 1987.


He is survived by wife Rena Sailor of Constantine; sons James (Maria) Sailor of San Antonio, Texas, John Sailor of Placerville, Calif., Bob (Rene) McDonald of Union, Ray (Penny) McDonald of Jones, Jim (Pam) McDonald of Union and John McDonald of Bristol, Ind.; and daughters Linda (Tom) Fager of Union, Lori Nevill of Dowagiac, Debbie (Chuck) Tom of Union and Sharon McDonald of Union. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive as well.


Dale was a retired truck driver, formerly driving for Warner Lambert, Versail Manufacturing and Phillips Industries. He enjoyed going to garage sales, playing poker and rummy, hunting deer and restoring Model A cars.


Dale was preceded in death by three daughters, Diana Holdeman, Diane Gray and Karen Bell, and seven brothers, Victor, Robert, George, Albert, Clem, Edward and Vernon Sailor.


Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (July 15, 2010) at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and for one hour prior to Friday's 10 a.m. funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Still of Kessington Community Church in Union will officiate. Burial will be at Plum Grove Cemetery in Union.
