Obituary
ELKHART — Dale Victor Roland, 74, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Greenleaf Health Campus.
He was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Chaneysville, Pa., to Carl and Ruth (Sabin) Roland. On Sept. 29, 1977, he married Gladys E. (Arnold) Roland. She passed away June 1, 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce A. (Daryll) Trowbridge of Edwardsburg, Mich.; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandson.
Dale served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 until 1973. He spent 18 months aboard patrol river boats during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Reese Products and Federal Paper Board in Elkhart.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at DAV No. 19 in Elkhart. Chaplain Andy Williams will officiate. He and his wife's cremated remains will be placed in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, has been entrusted with arrangements.
