Obituary
Ft. Wayne -- Dale G. Crawford, 73, of Ft. Wayne and formerly of Elkhart, passed away from natural causes at his home on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017.
He was born in Elkhart on July 3, 1943 to the late Robert "Doc" and Dorothy (Walters) Crawford.
Surviving is his son Mike (Angee) Crawford; granddaughters Kiley, Leslie and Emily Crawford; great granddaughter Leah Wagers and brother Steven Crawford; all of Elkhart. A second brother, James (Judith) Crawford, survives in Goshen.
In accordance with Dale's wishes, no services have been scheduled and cremation is to take place, with a private burial to follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Dale spent 18 years at Excel of Elkhart then went on to work another 27 years for Amtrak as a ticket agent. He was also an avid "fire buff", and enjoyed following the science and innovation of modern firefighting as well as visiting various stations and departments and getting to know the firefighters. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Memorial donations may be given to the Elkhart City Fire Department.
