ELKHART -- Daisy E. Books, 91, of Elkhart, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2009) in Miller's Merry Manor.

She was born April 5, 1917, in Elkhart to William and Lettie (Brown) Adams. On Nov. 3, 1934, she married Ralph C. Books in LaGrange. He died July 5, 1998, in Elkhart.

Mrs. Books is survived by two sons, Nathan (Janice) Books of Middlebury and Charles (Sue) Books of Elkhart; one daughter, Carolyn (Dennis) Hull of Granger; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Theo, Claude, Guy and Nathan Adams, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Books had been a press operator at Taylor Products, Elkhart, and worked with TOPS more than 50 years. She was an active member, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, and pianist at California Road Missionary Church.

She loved her flower garden and spending time at the cottage on Dewart Lake.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to Saturday's 11 a.m. funeral service at California Road Missionary Church., 29765 C.R. 12 W., Elkhart. The Revs. Bud Walterhouse and Dale Turner will officiate. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Rice Cemetery.
