ELKHART — Cynthia K. Thurston, 60, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 18, 1950, in Elkhart, to Eugene and Eva J. (Hoffman) Harmon. On April 3, 2003, she married Carl L. Thurston in Elkhart.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Jeffrey Scott (Theresa) Ghrist, Steven Ghrist and Joseph C. (Ashley) Spell, all of Elkhart; daughter Angela C. (David) Warren of Elkhart; two brothers, Mark A. Harmon of Elkhart and Michael (Rhonda) Harmon of Cassopolis, Mich.; sister Jana (Jerry) Workman of Goshen; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Cynthia was a 1969 graduate of Elkhart High School. In addition to being a loving homemaker, she was previously employed with the Elkhart County prosecutor's office for nearly 10 years. She enjoyed bowling with her friends, serving as a Scout leader and going to her sons' Little League games.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Dennis Chaput of Open Door Christian Fellowship will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
