Cynthia Jean "Cindy" Eby, 54, of Elkhart, passed away after fighting a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, May 27, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born on September 30, 1969, to the late Merlyn and Ersell J. (Mellott) Eby.
Cindy is also preceded in death by her faithful companions, Cagney and Rosco. She is survived by her brother, Timothy "Tim" Eby; niece, Caitlyn Eby; nephew, Braxon Eby; great nephew, Winston Eby; significant other, Jackie Hopper; and her faithful canine companion, Bart.
A visitation for Cindy will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St. Elkhart, IN 46516. Burial will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Elkhart.
Cindy was a hardworking and independent woman who worked for Phillips and Company for over 20 years and later at Dometic for several years. There she was known for her exceptional leadership skills as a supervisor and team leader. She was a phenomenal and natural caregiver who took care of her parents till the very end. Cindy played softball for most of her life; her love of the sport started in elementary school and later into her adulthood.
Those who knew Cindy would tell you that she was the life of any party and was brutally honest, no matter the situation. She never minced her words. Cindy loved spending time with her family, especially with her niece and nephews. In her spare time, she enjoyed cheering on her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers and going out with her many friends. Cindy will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
