NAPPANEE — Courtney Marie Troyer, 25, of Nappanee, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 11:36 a.m. at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 2, 1986, in Elkhart to Jerry L. Knight, Jr., who preceded her in death, and Sondra D. (Cody Vance Jr.) Knight, who survives in Union, Mich.
Also surviving are her brother, Theron S. (Jessica) Spivey of Nappanee; stepsister Stevie Vance and stepbrother Cody C. Vance, both of Union; grandparents Ron and Marie Troyer, Ron and Gloria Hammon and Dave and Bonnie Farnham, all of Elkhart; grandmother Diane Knight of Elkhart; great-grandfather Mervin Troyer of Hesston, Kan; and a host of aunts, uncles and extended family. Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Mikel L. Maxam; stepfather Brian Spivey and a grandfather, Jerry L. Knight, Sr.
A celebration of Courtney's life will take place at Billings Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, with visitation from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., when the service will begin. Pastor Ann Mitchell of Prairie Street Mennonite Church, along with Kevin Woolwine, will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
Courtney had a heart of gold and loved to be able to help others. Even in death, she carried on with her giving spirit by being an organ donor. Online condolences may reach the family at the funeral home's website.
