Cory L. Hurlbut, 38, of Elkhart, peacefully entered into his eternal rest on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2 PM at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, IN. He was faithfully surrounded by his loving family and friends throughout his brave battle against melanoma cancer.

Cory was born on May 5, 1986, in Mishawaka, IN to Randy Custard and Brenda Hurlbut. He graduated from Penn High School and most recently worked for the Coca-Cola Corporation for 6 years, following many years of service at Zolman's Tire and Auto Care. God blessed him to marry the love of his life, Felicia A. (Hively), on December 31, 2017, and he became a dedicated father to Gabriela, Abriana and Victoria Davila.

Cory was a devout and loved member of New Testament Bible Church since December 14, 2008, and the congregation regarded him as a sweet, fun-loving little brother. He served the Lord Jesus Christ as a gifted drummer and Youth Leader and became an ordained Minister in 2016. In his leisure time, Cory thoroughly enjoyed teaching life skills for the youth including automotive mechanics, kayaking, hiking, learning new things, movies and game nights with friends and family. He always brightened up a room when he walked in, especially when he started talking about exciting new ideas revolving around electronics, science and witty inventions. Cory was a "once in a lifetime" kind of man; extremely kind, adventurous, generous, and loved his amazing wife and girls more than anything in the world.

Cory is survived by his devoted wife, Felicia A. (Hively) Hurlbut of Elkhart, his step-daughters, Gabriela, Abriana and Victoria Davila, all at home, his father Randy (Susan) Custard of Mishawaka, IN and his mother Brenda Hurlbut, also of Mishawaka; his grandfather Forrest Hurlbut of Mishawaka; uncles CJ and Tony Hurlbut, both of Mishawaka, best friend Sean (Ambre) McCuddy of Mishawaka (aka CorySean), Jason (Selina) Skinner of Osceola and Tommy (Angie) Poyser of Elkhart, his in-laws Michael and Sonya Whiteman of Elkhart, his dogs Patches and Bella (and rabbit Iris), and a loving host of extended family, good friends, neighbors and a very loving church community. Among several other family members, Cory is also preceded in death by grandmothers Diane Hurlbut and Klaria Custard and his dear friend and mentor Vicki Fireline.

Friends and family may gather at the New Testament Bible Church, 29718 CR 18, Elkhart, on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 2 pm - 4 pm, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm officiated by Pastor Shirley Fox. In accordance with Cory's wishes, a cremation will take place following the services. A dinner will be held in the church annex following the service. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to Cory's family in care of Felicia Hurlbut.
