ELKHART -- Constance L. "Connie" Winters, 85, died at 11 a.m. Saturday (June 13, 2009) at her home.

She was born March 25, 1924, in Billings, Mont., to Thomas and Ruth (Kercheis) Platz. She married Robert E. Funderburg and they later divorced. She married Billy Winters on July 26, 1962, in Las Vegas. He died in 1985.

Mrs. Winters is survived by three sons, Christoper Winters and Thomas L. Funderburg, both of Elkhart, and Ronald Funderburg of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter, Debra R. (Donald) Slonaker of Woodbridge, Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Mrs. Winters was a homemaker. She had worked at J.C. Penney for over 20 years, first in downtown Elkhart and later at Concord Mall in the office and catalog department. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A procession will form at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home for a 10 a.m. graveside service to be held at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. The family will officiate. Burial will take place at Rice Cemetery.
