BRISTOL -- Colin Jon Hendrie, 20, of Bristol, died at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday (May 5, 2009) in his home.

He was born June 14, 1988, in Elkhart to Scott L. and Stacey B. (Le Van) Hendrie.

He is survived by his mother, Stacey (Tom) Nickel of Bristol; his father, Scott L. Hendrie of Osceola; three sisters, Hilary M. (Robb) Ross of Jones, Mich., and Shelby M. and Faith L. Nickel, both of Bristol; and his grandparents, Alice Le Van and Ada Nickel, both of Elkhart, and Jim Nickel of Bristol.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Milton "Bud" Hendrie and Jack Le Van.

Mr. Hendrie was a 2006 graduate of Northridge High School, Middlebury. A gifted artist, he had plans to study graphic design and marketing after he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved the outdoors, video games, movies and music, and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He also enjoyed extreme sports, such as snowboarding, skateboarding and motocross.

On a normal afternoon he could be found grilling steaks for his friends, followed by a game of touch football or listening to music.

Friends may call Monday from 5 until the 7 p.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Andrew Wollman of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Goshen, will officiate. Cremation will follow.
