Mario was born in Elkhart on Jan. 2, 1954, to the late John M. and Antonietta (Carusillo) Colagrossi. In fact, he was a lifelong resident of Elkhart's Third Street neighborhood, and was very proud of his hometown, his Italian heritage and his Elkhart roots.

Mario's life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart with a visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, followed by a memorial service there at 1 p.m. Friends and family members will conduct the service, and cremation has taken place in accordance with the family's wishes.
Mario worked many years as a driver for LaVanture Products in Elkhart, but was best known for his astounding musical talent and affiliation with several area rock bands, including the Dreambeats. He was a singer, songwriter and producer who completed no less than four CDs under his Angelo Records label. He was also an avid Beatles enthusiast, Boston Celtics fan, and had a sense of humor that would endear him to just about anyone. Known by his band peers as the "Lone Angel," Mario cherished his musical talent and enjoyed not only being able to put his life's experiences to music and lyrics, but also to bring that talent onto the stage and share that energy with those he loved.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice at Home.
