ELKHART — Clifford O. Martin, 91, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, in his residence.
He was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Huntington, to Deeo O. and Leona E. (Whitacre) Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores J. (Lee) Martin; one son, David E. (Joyce) Martin; one daughter, Linda K. Martin; three grandchildren, Aaron L. Martin, Melissa A. (Jorge) Moreno and Vanessa K. (Christopher Neice) Martin; three great-grandchildren, Alexondria M. Martin, Spenzar E. Martin and Keileeyanah R. Martin, all of Elkhart; and one sister, Ella E. Harris of Mishawaka.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Retha B. Wolff.
Clifford was a graduate of South Bend Central class of 1942. He later proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
He was employed as a millwright for more than 30 years prior to his retirement.
Clifford was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a former member of Osceola Church of the Brethren and Cedar Road Missionary Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and board member.
Clifford often enjoyed gardening, fishing and word book puzzles.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, and for an hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Carl Henry of Northside Baptist Church in Elkhart will officiate. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northside Baptist Church or the Hospice Foundation in memory of Clifford.
