Christopher Dane Taylor, 72, residing in Elkhart, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2022, at Valley View Health Care Center. Chris was born on May 30, 1949, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Frederick William and Dorothy Jean (Mishler) Taylor. His sister, Jean Michele Curtis, of Bristol, IN also proceeded him in death.
He married Emillie 'Milly" Eugenia van der Sijs on June 4, 1997. Milly died on May 21, 2020, in Elkhart.
Chris leaves behind close family including two nieces Heather (Bill) Keel, Sara Curtis & husband Kris Robinson; nephew Joshua Curtis; great niece Nicole McGee, a great nephew Anthony Quinn and one great-great nephew, Mason Hoy.
As a lifelong resident of Elkhart, Chris also leaves innumerable pseudo family members and very close friends who shared in his many adventures.
Chris followed his father's example and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Once he returned to Elkhart, he perfected his hand at welding, then joined the United States Post Office where he retired from after 30 years of service as a letter carrier.
Chris was active in various swimming clubs and teams throughout his early years and in High School found a love for the theatre. Chris was on the National Ski Patrol at Swiss Valley for 10 years. He had an insatiable curiosity of the world, getting interested in various hobbies and activities throughout his life including motorcycles, Martial Arts, orienteering, wildlife tracking, and camping just to name a few.
He was an engaging storyteller, and his humor is legendary. Chris will be deeply missed.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation was chosen under the care of Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Condolences may be made online at www.billingsfuneralhome.com
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 3-5 pm at The Gathering Place at Centre 1231, located in (Northern most building) on the grounds of Billings Funeral Home, physical address of the event center is 1231 Johnson St.
