ELKHART — Christopher J. "CJ" Ryckeart, 31, of Elkhart, passed away on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013.
He was born in Elkhart on March 8, 1982.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Janice K. "Jan" (Dale A.) Ostrom of Elkhart; cousins Brian (Andrea) Barnard of Elkhart, Scott (Bonnie Reed) Barnard of Osceola and Heather (Jesse) Sorrells of Fishers; aunt and uncle Amber (John) Sinning; and great-aunt and great-uncle Maggie (Bill) Windsor, both of Elkhart.
In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, to a remembrance gathering for C.J. with the family from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Elkhart Knights of Columbus Hall at 112 E. Lexington Ave., Elkhart.
Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
C.J. was an avid outdoor enthusiast who would rather be in the sunshine and hiking a forest trail than anywhere else. He and his family traveled extensively, (especially in his youth) and he loved to explore the hiking trails at many of America's various state and national parks. He was also an accomplished chess player and loved to tinker with anything that had a motor or engine in it.
No memorial donations have been requested; simply, the family has asked that you keep them and C.J. in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come as they travel through this difficult time.
