Obituary

Christine Ellen Ogar, 77, of Elkhart joined her Heavenly Father at 2:15 P.M. on September 8, 2022, surrounded by her devoted family. She was known as Tine by her husband, family, and friends, but she loved most being called Mom and Grandma.

She was the youngest of 3 daughters to Leonard and Verna (Snyder) Froelich of Elkhart. She graduated St. Joe High School in 1963. She met Ralph, husband of 57 years, at an Azar's Big Boy. They married Aug 14, 1965 at St. Vincent Catholic Church.

In 1965, Chris moved to Petaluma, CA with Ralph, returning to Elkhart in 1966. In 1968, she started her family; eventually having two busy, healthy children. She and Ralph spent 20 years on Surrey Lane among friends and family, seldom missing Sunday mass. Chris was always present for her friends and family – having a quiet impact on all.

In 1991, Chris and Ralph moved to NJ, moving back to Elkhart in 1996 to be closer to family. In all her jobs over the years – First National Bank, Superior Tool & Die, Hull Lift Truck – people found her delightful, dedicated and kind. In 2007 Chris retired; she and Ralph spent their time at grandkids' games, recitals & graduations – often traveling across the country to do so. She and Ralph found time to vacation; she loved anywhere near the ocean. She had a passion for cooking, thrifty shopping, and changing her home décor with every season.

In 2012 Chris was diagnosed with breast cancer, battled for two years, and won. She struggled with health complications this last year; Ralph tended to her 24/7 care, each and every day.

Chris is survived by her devoted husband, Ralph; her children, Sean (Sabrina) of Chicago; Shannon (Jeremy) Yoder of Middlebury; six grandchildren, Chip, Camille and Audrey Ogar; Braden, Brooklyn and Brinley Yoder; her sister, Judy Fodroczi (Elkhart); eight nieces and nephews; many beloved friends; and most importantly, her faithful dogs Lucee & Toby.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Barbara Ross of Anchorage, AK.

Visitation for Chris will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bristol, IN, on Friday, Sept 16: family and friends, 12-1:30 PM; Rosary, 1:30-2; Mass of Christian Burial, 2-2:45. Billings Funeral Home was entrusted to care for Chris' services.
