Christian Augusto Delgado Palomino, 66, of Elkhart, was called Home by the Lord on August 5, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Christian was born on January 3, 1957 in Lima, Peru to Augusto Delgado Perez and Susana Palomino Arvieto de Delgado. He is married to his soulmate, Ana Maria Taboada Rojas in Lima on September 8, 1993. He received his bachelor's in Biology from Universidad Ricardo Palma and his master's in Biochemistry from Univeridad Cayetano Heredia.

Christian was a devout Catholic, receiving his formation in the church through Colegio Salesiano, Breña. He was highly involved with his secondary school alumni group, Promocion Salesiano '72 Arturo Bares, helping plan their 50th reunion in Lima. Christian had an innate ability to unify others and make them feel cared for and heard. Among his peers, he is remembered for his patience, love for others and love for God, a true "friend to all".

Throughout his life, Christian held many roles. As a child, he worked at his parent's restaurant in La Victoria serving tables and washing dishes. He had a stint as a radio DJ in his college days at a local radio station. At the start of his career, he was a professor of Biochemistry at different universities in Lima. He was a Serology Lab manager at the International Potato Center, where he met Ana Maria in 1990. Most notably, he founded his own company, Delta Diagnostica SRL in Peru, and Delta Diagnostica LLC in the U.S., which serves companies, farmers and governmental institutions overseas who need assistance in acquiring plant diagnostic materials.

Above all, Christian is known for his kind humor, lighthearted personality, and compassionate care for his community. He had a goofy smile and a joke for every occasion. His children remember fondly his supportive presence at every play, performance, game, or ceremony, no matter the time. He showed up for his friends in their time of need and stood up for what he believed in. He was an example of maintaining hope and finding peace when the control is taken out of your hands.

Christian was a doting father, loving husband and a supportive son. While his time with us was cut short, his legacy will continue to live through those who got to experience his kindness and care.

He is preceded in death by his father, Augusto on August 4, 1995.

Christian is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Ana Maria; his mother, Susana; children, Maria Fatima, Francisco, Maria Fernanda, Sebastian; brother, Wenceslao; and niece, Mariana and many friends and extended family whom he deeply loved.

A Mass in his honor will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 N. Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530 with Msgr. William C. Schooler officiating.

A Spanish Rosary will be prayed at 9:15 am.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the start of the service from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the church.
