Christina "Chris" Irene Gordon, 72, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Chris was born on September 19, 1949 in South Bend, IN to the late Warren R. Strong and Irene N. (Mattox) Strong. She is preceded in death by her son, Courtney "Cort" Gordon in 2006, brother, Warren "Ronnie" Strong, II, nephew, Brian "Keith" Arnett and her fur baby, Gizzy.

Chris is survived by her sister, Cherie (Pete) Thompson of Elkhart; nephews and nieces of whom she treated like her own children, Wayne (Catrina) Arnett of Tulsa, OK, Christie (Mark) Marley of Granger, IN, Carole (Scott) Snyder of Osceola, IN and Matt (Ashley) Thompson of Elkhart; and close great nieces and nephews.

Chris was in the food service industry all her life owning several restaurants. She worked in the cafeteria at Elkhart General Hospital and most recently at Leesburg Hospital in Florida.

Chris could be found golfing in her younger days. She was an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. Chris also liked the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Chris was a Florida lady to her core. Chris frequently played scratch offs hoping for that big win!

Most of all, Chris enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family especially during the holidays.

Visitation for Chris will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at First Church of the Nazarene, 51690 Ironwood Rd., South Bend, IN 46635.

A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church. Committal be afterwards at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN.
