He was born Feb. 25, 1958, in South Bend to Lewis W. Runnels and Janet Palmer.

Mr. Runnels is survived by his parents, Jim and Janet Borgsteadt of Elkhart; three brothers, Stephen (Denise) Runnels of South Bend, Don (Joan) Runnels of New Lenox, Ill., and Todd (Deanna) Farrand of Elkhart; and three sisters, Lynn (Tim) Seabert of Granger, Diane (John) Rodgers of Eastlake, Ohio, and Maria Zinner of Thompson, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Runnels, and his father.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope United Methodist Church, 28765 C.R. 4. A memorial service will immediately follow in the church. Cremation will take place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Runnels worked as an artist. He was a member of the Elkhart Eagles, American Pool Association and the Ball Breakers pool team. He was a World War II history buff and collector of World War II memorabilia and information. He enjoyed going to turkey shoots.
