IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlie M.
Pulluaim
January 6, 1958 – September 23, 2023
Ms. Charlie M. Pulluaim, 65, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 23, 2023 following an extended illness.
She was born in Jackson, Mississippi on January 6, 1958 to the late Charlie H. and Bessie (Hart) Pulluaim and was the loving mother of two precious daughters, Shamiko Grey of Elkhart and Nakia Grey of Louisville, Kentucky. She also has 13 grandchildren, a multitude of great grandchildren and more brothers and sisters than you could shake a stick at. She was loved by all and will be missed dearly. Also surviving is a rather large group of loving extended family and cherished close friends, so the loss from Charlie's passing has been felt by many. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, William Hawkins, Jr.
In accordance with her wishes, Charlie is to be cremated and a memorial gathering of family and friends will follow at a later date. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services have been assisting Charlie's daughters with the arrangements.
Charlie was a homemaker whose ability to be an effective and loving mom and grandma was perfected early on. Everyone knew she was a fantastic cook, but Charlie's homemade pan-fried chicken (go ahead….admit you can smell that in your head…) cooked with love and maternal expertise had people running to the house in droves! Another of Charlie's specialties remembered by one of her daughters was, believe it or not, Kool-Aid. Kids playing around in the neighborhood knew that if they came to Charlie's house, a huge pitcher of the best tasting Kool-Aid anyone ever had was usually available, but no one was able to figure out how she mixed her Kool-Aid to make it taste so darn good.
We can't say enough how much she loved her grandchildren; practically raising the older ones. Not in a sense of being their caregiver, but more in a role of imparting wisdom, manners and common sense. Charlie was loving, kind and understanding, and was never quick to condemn or accuse. She understood most aspects of life and strived to pass her acquired experiences on to future generations.
Finally, when Charlie needed a break….just a bit of peace to relax her mind….she would retreat to the TV set and laugh to her favorite cartoons on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Family Guy, King Of The Hill, American Dad and The Cleveland Brown Show all made her forget her worries and just enjoy the silliness of life! "Party over hurrrrr!!!"
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charlie's family or to the charity of one's choice.
