Obituary

Charles "Chuck" F. Warner, 66, of Elkhart, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Center for Hospice Care-Raclin House.

Chuck was born in Elkhart, IN on August 14, 1959 to the late, Gerald W. and Bessie E. (Vandermark) Warner. He married the love of his life, Linda L. Mayer-Warner on November 24, 2004 in Nassau, Bahamas.

He is preceded by his parents, Gerald and Bessie; twin brother, David Warner; sister, Peggy Warner, Uncle Charlie and Aunt Pat Warner.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 21 years, Linda Mayer-Warner of Elkhart; sons, Nathan (Jessica) Warner of Forman, ND; Matthew (Stephanie) Sukolics of Elkhart; daughter, Amanda (Philip) Warner-Hake of McKinney, TX; brother, Gerald “Buddy” (Phyllis) Underwood of Albuquerque, NM; beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Liam, Riley and Leland; mother-in-law, Lillian Mayer of Elkhart; sister-in-law, Tamera Mayer-Jetter of Elkhart; and furry companions, Libby, Lou and Molly Mae.

Chuck dedicated over 20 years of service as a skilled head mechanic with the Elkhart Community Schools Transportation Department, where his hard work and reliability kept countless buses safely on the road.

From a young age, he loved watching Westerns, a pastime he carried with him throughout his life. Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing, and he took great pride in barbequing on his smoker for family and friends.

Above all else, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. In recent days, Chuck found deep comfort and peace in accepting his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family would like to thank the staff at Center for Hospice Care for their love and support Chuck was given.

A Celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Clay Powell of Elkhart City Church.

Friends may visit 2 hours prior to the start of the service on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial with graveside service will be at Rice Cemetery at 2pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
