Obituary

Charles H. "Chuck" Vredingburgh, 90, of Elkhart, passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28, 2023. He was born in Elkhart on April 3, 1933, to the late George and Dorothy (McCutcheon) Vredingburgh.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Vredingburgh; son, Brent Vredingburgh; 2 grandchildren, Spencer and Annalyse. He is preceded in death by his brothers, George and Ray Vredingburgh and by his sisters, Helen Meinis, Betty Stewart, Mary Fox, and infant sister, Caroline Vredingburgh.

In accordance with Chuck's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 E Bristol St, Elkhart, IN 46514. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Tracy Rose-Love officiating. Memorial donations may go to Hillcrest United Methodist Church.

Chuck was a kind, caring, and talented man with a good sense of humor who loved and cherished his family. He served proudly in the United States Army and worked as a Research Scientist at Miles Consumer Healthcare until his retirement in 1992. He married Linda Schalliol, on June 4, 1965, and after their marriage they lived in Brisbane, Australia. They also lived in California for a short time before settling down in Elkhart.

Chuck and his wife were members of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. He often took his family on wonderful vacations and in his spare time, he enjoyed painting, drawing, playing the organ and guitar, bowling with his son, and taking long walks and gardening with his wife. Chuck will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the kind nurses at Beacon Health Center who took exceptional care of Chuck during his final moments, especially those in the Emergency, Critical Care, PCU, Oncology, and Heart to Heart Hospice.
