He was born Dec. 22, 1946, in South Bend to Delbert R. and Irene L. (Johnson) Sheldon. He married Carol Vance on Oct. 6, 1991.

She survives along with two sons, Charles L. Sheldon Jr. and Ronald D. Schooley, both of Elkhart; three grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Deborah) Sheldon of Elkhart, David (Nancy) Sheldon of Georgia and Ed Sheldon of Princeton; and one sister, Roberta (Leroy) Lucas of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Smith.

Friends may call one hour prior to Monday's 2 p.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastors Charlie Weaver and Mark Wimberly of Great Works Outreach will officiate. Burial will be in Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.

Mr. Sheldon had worked at Ultra Fab Products, Elkhart. He attended Great Works Outreach and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
