He was born July 17, 1934, in Derry, Pa., to Charles O. and Leila (Stiffler) Henderson Sr. He married Bette L. Donaldson on Dec. 8, 1956, in Leechburg, Pa.
She survives along with two sons, Charles O. Henderson III of Texas and Michael J. (Melissa) Henderson of Nappanee; two daughters, Leslie A. (Raymond P.) Statler Jr. and Diane Y. (Randy) McClain-Weber both of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Sean David Henderson.
Friends may call for two hours prior to today's 7 p.m. memorial service at the Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. His close friend James Wooters will give the eulogy. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date in Apollo, Pa.
The Rev. Henderson was a retired United Methodist minister and served in Pennsylvania and Indiana. He was a former sales manager for Liberty Homes Inc. in Syracuse and worked in sales in the manufactured homes field for many years. The Rev. Henderson was a 1952 graduate of Leechburg High School, Leechburg, Pa., and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., in 1955. He graduated from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, in 1972. He was a United States Army veteran, an expert marksman and enjoyed target shooting. He was the past president of the Elkhart Gun Club, a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge 599 and an avid ham radio operator under the call sign of N9EY.
