ELKHART -- Charles Gilkerson, 54, of Elkhart, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday (June 27, 2008) at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1954, in Winchester, Va., to Eddie Grandison and Goldie Gilkerson. He married Wendy on June 5, 1976, in Winchester. She survives with one daughter, Frances (Willie) Gilkerson-Jones of Elkhart; two brothers, Eric of Florida and Erwin of Winchester; three sisters, Darlene, Marie and Muneerah, all of Winchester; two grandchildren; and his mother of Winchester. His father is deceased.

There will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place. Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, was in charge of arrangements.
