Charles F. Brown, 89, of Elkhart passed away peacefully at his home on December 8, 2022. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elkhart. He is survived by his wife of 62 yrs, Shirley A. Brown, also of Elkhart; their 6 children, Tony (Sonja Sjoquist) of Lakeville, MN, Tim (Cherise Blexrud) of Osceola, IN, Terri Schulberg of Prior Lake, MN, Tamera (Derek) Rostron of Canton, MI, Steve of Elkhart, IN and Charles (Geniese Trotter) of Elkhart, IN; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandson.

Charles was born August 3, 1933, in Fowler, Mi and was raised in Ypsilanti, MI. He graduated from Ypsilanti High in 1952 and then enlisted in the United States Navy. He served four years Active Duty and was aboard the U.S.S. RICH in the Korean War. After his enlistment in the Navy he went to Michigan State University and completed a 3 year course in Agriculture. He met his wife Shirley Niebauer at Teales Café in Marlette, MI while she was waiting tables in 1959. They were married in 1960 in Marlette and started their family. He held several jobs while in Marlette eventually being hired at Evans Products/Weyerhauser as a Sales Rep. In 1981 Charles was transferred to Apple Valley, MN and then again in 1983 to Elkhart, IN. In 1992 her retired from then Chesapeake Hardwoods and started a final career at Coachmen R.V. in Middlebury, IN where he would officially retire from in 2005.

Charles was known for his "green thumb" and loved working outside. He spent many weekends relaxing with family and friends watching Michigan State and Michigan football, discussing world events and enjoying a few cold beverages. If you were to stop by the house during the week you were guaranteed to hear Rush Limbaugh, Brian Kilmeade, or Fox News.

Viewing will be held at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, with military honors to take place at 4:30 p.m. and a rosary to be held at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic parish in Elkhart at 11:00 a.m. with an hour of viewing prior on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
