ELKHART -- Charles Earl "Chuck" Eger, 57, of Elkhart, died at 1:34 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 3, 2008) at home.

He was born June 2, 1950, in Elkhart to Charles E. and Betty L. (Flauding) Eger. He married Phyllis Ann Messick on July 23, 1977, in Elkhart.

She survives along with one son, Charles N. (Angela) Eger of Elkhart; one daughter, Robin C. Kolbus of Munising, Mich.; two grandchildren; one brother, Cliff (Lisa) Eger of White Pigeon, Mich.; and three sisters, Christine (Bruce) Jones and Cyndi (Jim) Lewis both of Constantine, Mich., and Carolyn (Bob) Bienz of Vandalia, Mich.

Mr. Eger was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Williams of Calvary Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow in Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.

Mr. Eger formerly worked at Captain & Co., Elkhart, and was the owner/operator of Eger Co. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was a subcontractor for insurance companies in Indiana and Michigan, doing restoration.

He was a 1968 Elkhart High School graduate and excelled in four sports. Mr. Eger attended Earlham College, Richmond, on a football scholarship. He was a founding member, past president and board member of Constantine Little League. His passion was spending time with his family on Shavehead Lake, where he enjoyed boating and was an avid ice fisherman.
