Feb. 25, 1960 - April 4, 2010

ELKHART -- Charles A. "Charlie" Daniels, 50, of Elkhart, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (April 4, 2010) at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1960, to Dean Alfred and Ora Otis (Sherrill) Daniels in Elkhart.

He is survived by two brothers, Douglas Arthur (Candy) Daniels of Nappanee and Kenneth Owen (Kim) Daniels of Edwardsburg, Mich.; sister Sherrill Wallis (Robert O'Hare) of Elkhart; two nieces, Laura (Dan) Davies of Oahu, Hawaii, and Courtney Wallis of Elkhart; and nephew David Daniels of Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today (April 17, 2010) at Northside Baptist Church, 53198 C.R. 9, Elkhart. A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. today at the church with Pastor Dave Spaugh officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Buchanan, Mich., at a later date.

He was a 1978 graduate of Jimtown High School. He was employed as a driver for Maple Tree, Safe Way and, most recently, Inspiratranz LLC. Additionally, he was the owner and disc jockey of Michiana Bandstand for 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 143 in Bristol and a former member of the Jimtown Jaycees.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is assisting with the arrangements.
