Chad K. Fruchey, 52, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his residence. He was born in South Bend, IN on October 27, 1973, and raised by the late Larry E. Fruchey and Vicki J. (Corl) Fruchey, who survives him.

Chad is also survived by his wife, Ann Fruchey; daughter, Alexis Singleton; stepchildren, Deacon Feldman and Veronica Cortel; five step grandchildren; sisters, Kristin Cooper and Angela Fruchey; and nephews, Ethan Fruchey and Quinten Jackson.

Cremation was chosen and visitation celebrating Chad’s life will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. Memorial donations may be given to Breakthrough T1D, Formerly JDRF, PO Box 5042 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5042 in honor of Chad’s lifelong struggle with Juvenile Diabetes.

Chad was an extremely independent and strong-willed man that never took no for an answer. He was adopted into his family by his loving parents who raised him to be a kind and strong man who put others before himself. As he grew up, he met many people in his community from his time in boys scouts, t-ball, and at Diabetes Camp. As he grew older, he made many friends through various clubs in the area that pertained to his many interests. Chad enjoyed fishing with his friends at the Michiana Fishing Club, would occasionally play golf with his buddies at the golf club, and was a part of the “Here Again” bowling team.

To say bowling was just a sport to him would be an understatement, bowling was his life! His greatest achievement was being the second person on record at Rainbow Lanes to bowl a perfect 300 game. Chad was awarded a ring for this accomplishment. He would bowl every Saturday alongside his family and would eventually increase his time spent at the bowling alley to twice a week to go bowling with friends on Fridays. Even when he could not bowl due to an injury, he would happily sell 50/50 tickets during bowling league tournaments.

Chad was an entrepreneur and started his lawn care business, Friendly Lawn Service, with his father and would later take it over with his nephew. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football, especially when Notre Dame and the Chicago Bears play. Chad loved to sing karaoke with his family and could captivate an entire room with his choice of song. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone laugh. Chad will be dearly missed by his loving family, his many friends, and all the lives he touched in his Elkhart community.
