She was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Elkhart to Cecil William and Mary Margaret (Scott) Smith. She married Wilbur D. Meredith on Nov. 26, 1954, in Elkhart. He died Feb. 19, 2006.

Mrs. Meredith is survived by one daughter, Debbie (Kenneth) Stone of Elkhart; one son, Duane A. Meredith of Tennessee; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call two hours prior to Saturday's 1 p.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Revs. John Moran and Marty Kelly will officiate. Private burial will be Monday in Prairie Street Cemetery.

Mrs. Meredith was a homemaker and a member and past president of American Legion Auxiliary 74, where at one point she served for 12 straight years as president. She enjoyed camping, sewing, knitting and loved animals, especially her Pomeranian dog, Goldie.
