ELKHART — Catherine E. Nusbaum, 94, of Elkhart and Simonton Lake, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
She was born March 2, 1919, in Elkhart to the late Frank and Bess (Dillon) Brown.
She married John J. Nusbaum on Aug. 11, 1940, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Elkhart. John died Jan. 8, 2009.
Surviving are a son, John Nusbaum, and his wife, Linda, of Elkhart; and daughter Crystal E. Neff and her husband, Ken, of Rogersville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Brothers Homer C. and Eugene Brown preceded Catherine in death.
Visitation and services will be private. The Rev. Daniel Repp will officiate. Entombment will be in Rice Cemetery in the Hope Mausoleum.
Catherine was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Elkhart High School and a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She was also a member of the Elk's Lodge 425 Christiana Creek Country Club. She loved to cook and was an avid bridge player. Catherine spent 94 summers at Simonton Lake.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home.
