Catherine M. "Cathy" Pojeta, 57, Elkhart, passed to her rest with her family at her side, Friday, April 14, 2017 at 12:12 p.m. at the Mosaic Group Home, Elkhart. Cathy was born on December 12, 1959 in Cassopolis, Michigan to the late Jerry S. and Rose C. (Bartik) Pojeta. In addition to her parents, 2 sisters, Jeanne Longbrake, Patricia Whitsett, 2 brother-in-law's Terry Longbrake, Skip Gregory and her sister-in-law Zita Pojeta preceded Cathy in death. Surviving to cherish her memory are siblings, Thomas Pojeta, Dorothy (Ed) Kupec, Judy (Kevin) Lennon, Mary (Paul) Gerwels, Robert (Veronica) Pojeta, Ric (Pat) Pojeta; brother-in-law David Whitsett and many beloved nieces and nephews. Cathy attended schools for the handicap and disabled in Cassopolis and Lansing Michigan, where she obtained vocational work through school. While attending St. Mary's Catholic Church in Niles, Cathy attended a Catholic hands on religion program to grow in her faith and to learn more about God. She also had attended St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing, St. Joseph's in Garrett and St. Mary's in Bristol. Cathy lived with her parents until they passed, and then lived with her sisters for many years until she went to live at group homes at ADEC and Mosaic. Mosaic took care of her when she was sick and became her special second family. Visitation for Cathy will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 W. Vistula St. Bristol, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 with visitation 1 hour prior also at St. Mary's. Rev. Robert VanKempen will officiate. Burial and graveside services will begin at Noon Saturday, April 22, at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2520 W. Willow St. Lansing, MI 48917.
