ELKHART -- Catherine Louise Bueter, 79, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Elkhart to the late Harold M. and Nellie (Bliss) Leege.
Surviving are four sons, Michael A. (Lori) Bueter of Elkhart, John P. (Rhonda) Bueter of Baldwin, Mich., Chuck D. (Beth) Bueter of Elkhart and Andrew K. Bueter of Niles, Mich.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine Martin of Cincinnati and Melba Panhorst of Arlington Heights, Ill.; two brothers, Philip Leege of Cincinnati and David Leege of Arizona; and her former husband, Wilfred "Willie" Bueter.
Catherine worked in the office at Miles Laboratories, retiring after 21 years of service. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Questors and the Dungaree Dolls Garden Club. Catherine was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking, water and snow skiing and collecting antiques, especially milk glass.
Please join with her family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where a vigil service will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. Friends also may call for one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St., Elkhart. The Rev. William Sullivan will officiate, with graveside services and burial to follow in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Elkhart.
The family prefers that memorials be given to the church or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
