GOSHEN -- Carroll E. "Bud" Elliott, 70, of Goshen, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 29, 2009) in his home.

He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Elizabethton, Tenn., to Homer and Ollie (Hill) Elliott. On Aug. 3, 1974, he married Linda S. Clark Schiltz.

She survives along with two sons, Cody G. (Jennifer) Elliott of Elkhart and Shawn E. Schiltz of Syracuse; two daughters, Vicki S. (James) Browning and Lori S. Schiltz, both of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry (Sue) Elliott of Ocala, Fla.; and one sister, Marge Snyder of Ridgecrest, Calif.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Thompson, and one brother, David Elliott.

Mr. Elliott worked in the RV industry and retired in 2008 from Keystone RV, Goshen, after 13 years, due to his health. He was a lifetime member of the Bristol Chapter of Sons of the American Legion and a member of Goshen Moose Lodge and Rambling Troubadours, a country-western band for which he played lead guitar for many years.

He liked to spend time with his grandchildren and go camping at the RV park behind the Goshen Moose Lodge. He often could be found tending his garden and yard, and building bird houses.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to Saturday's 11 a.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Mike Fisher of Grace Bible Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and his remains will be returned to the Tennessee mountains, where they will be scattered on his family's property.
