ELKHART — Mrs. Carrie E. "Tilly" Albright, 85, of Elkhart, passed away at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, following an extended illness.
She was born in Kistler, W.Va., Nov. 18, 1927, to the late Hal and Lillian (Hatfield) Curtis. She was a third-generation direct descendent Hatfield of the infamous Hatfield-McCoy feud of 1863-91.
She married Verlin Albright on Oct. 30, 1943, in Logan County, W.Va. He passed away in Elkhart in 1995.
Also preceding Tilly in death were a son, Roy Albright; a brother, Ralph Curtis; and sisters Eva Lowther and Beulah Buzzard.
Surviving are her sons, Randy (Phyllis) Albright of Goshen, Vernon (Kathy) Albright of North Port, Fla., and Danny and Michael (Jenny) Albright, both of Elkhart; her daughter, Tammy (Marty) Morgan of Elkhart; brother Hollis (Gloria) Curtis of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart will be hosting the services, beginning with a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013. A funeral will take place there at 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, with visitation starting one hour prior. Pastor B.J. Bishop of Elkhart Church of God will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
Tilly was a homemaker who enjoyed attending Elkhart Church of God and playing piano for a traveling gospel singing group known as the Landmark Singers. They performed at such places as Concord Mall and Noah's Ark, an adult day care center in Osceola. She also enjoyed watching game shows and doing word search puzzles.
