Obituary

Carolyn "Judy" Judith (Gregg) Miller, 87, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Hubbard Hill Estates surrounded by loving family. She was born on March 16, 1936, in Elkhart, to the late Raymond and Ruth (Shultz) Gregg. In 1960, Judy married the love of her life, Ernest Eugene Miller, whom she spent 60 wonderful years with before his passing in December 2020.

Judy is survived by her loving children, Raymond (Maria) Miller II of Elkhart, and ToniRae (Tim) Hurley of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Phillip Brittain of Cape Coral, FL, and Eric Brittain of Old Town, FL; great grandchildren, Corey and Payton; siblings, Raymond Gregg and Mary Combrink; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

In accordance with Judy's wishes, cremation has been chosen. Services for Judy will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Hubbard Hill's Sailor Center with a memorial service beginning at 2 PM and a meal to follow. Pastor Jeremy Sarber of Billings Funeral Home will be officiating. At a later date, burial and graveside services will occur at South Union Cemetery in Nappanee where she will be reunited with her husband, Ernest.

Memorial donations can be made in Judy's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to SouthernCare Hospice of Mishawaka, 1626 E. Day Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Judy owned a business alongside her mother, Ruth, called S & G Business Associates for many years where they rented out various mailing lists. One account they notably held for a long time was with Miles Laboratory and Bayer, something the pair were very proud of.

In their younger years, Judy and Ernest moved to Florida and lived there for over 21 years. In that time, they enjoyed boating together, owning four vessels of their own and creating many lifelong memories that Judy cherished. In Ernest's words, Judy was the best first mate and navigator to have aboard and he adored spending time with her out on the water.

In her spare time, Judy was passionate about cooking and baking. She was known as the 'best cook on the planet' by many, especially when it came to her chocolate chip cookies, spaghetti, roast beef, and fried chicken. These dishes and treats were shared with many and brought loads of smiles and full bellies to those she loved.

Judy will best be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a loyal and trustworthy soul who always wanted the best for others. Her, along with her love and joy, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she touched throughout her life.
