Carol Ann (Whybrew) Bell, 82, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, after a short stay at Center for Hospice Care's Esther House in Elkhart. She was born on August 28, 1942, in Elkhart to the late Donald Whybrew and Wilma (Joseph) Watters Seigler.
Carol is survived by her loving daughters, Leigh and Cathy Bell, both of Elkhart; grandchildren, Dr. Amber (Nick) Sheppard, DVM of Goshen, Stacy (Greg) Stutzman of Valparaiso, and Keith Stamm of Granger; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Mackenzie, Olivia, Jackson, and Hailey; siblings, Steven Whybrew of McAllen, TX, Pam Seigler Moore of East Stroudsburg, PA, and Lynn Lyons of Elkhart; and a host of nieces, nephews, and sibling-in-laws that she loved dearly.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Bell.
In accordance with Carol's wishes, cremation has been chosen and a private graveside service will take place at a later date. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
Carol was a proud homemaker. She lived to serve her family and did so for decades. Carol also loved volunteering her time at elementary schools, often helping children learn how to read and write as well as assisting teachers with laminating and various tasks. Carol was also the first to offer her help whenever needed. It never mattered who the person was, if there was a need then she would try to remedy it. She embraced everyone and would often be called "Grandma" by more than just her family. She loved being the grandma to all her grandchildren's friends and peers. Carol was truly selfless. Knowing Carol in any capacity was a huge gift and we are all better people because of her presence in our lives.
In her spare time, Carol enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, crocheting, putting together puzzles, and spending time with her family. She especially loved all things to do with animals and any time she got with her five great-grandchildren. There was never any doubt how important her family was to her. She truly enjoyed every second she was able to spend with them.
Carol was a true one-of-a-kind, pure heart. Her loss will be felt by many. Carol's family will miss her far beyond what words could ever express but they find peace in knowing she is reunited with her soulmate, Charlie. Together in heaven, they can continue watching over their loved ones just as they did on Earth. We wish we could have kept you forever, Grandma. Thank you for saving so many of us with your love.
The family would like to thank Center for Hospice Care and their staff for the wonderful care they extended toward Carol during her final days. They have truly been a blessing to the Bell family.
