ELKHART -- Carol Francis Ward, 69, of Elkhart, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 15, 2009) in her home.

She was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Elkhart to Van Mann and Alice Dishong.

Ms. Ward is survived by one son, Grant L. Ward of Elkhart; two daughters, Karol K. Ward of Elkhart and Vera (Edward) James of Michigan; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Patty Nelson of Ennis, Texas, and Betty Dishong of Jacksonville, Fla.

Four siblings, Richard and Leonard Ashville, Joann Dishong and Lydia Page, preceded her in death.

Ms. Ward was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, sewing, puzzles and watching soap operas, especially General Hospital.

A gathering of family and friends will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Cremation has taken place.
