GOSHEN -- Carmen Christopher "Chi" Groh, 50, of Goshen, died at 2 p.m. Friday (Nov. 28, 2008) at Goshen General Hospital, of an apparent heart attack.


He was born May 13, 1958, in Chicago to Charles Clinton and Theresa P. (Buoz) Groh.


Mr. Groh is survived by his fiancee, Melissa A. Whybrew of Goshen; his stepson, Jacob Whybrew, at home; and his close friends, Zonny Hewitt and Robin Roberts of Goshen;


He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.


Mr. Groh was formerly a supervisor with StairSupplies in Goshen. He received a bachelor's degree in social sciences from Roosevelt University in Chicago and an associate's degree from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Ill. He had also attended Carl Sanberg College, MacMurry College and Southern Illinois University.


Known as "Chi" because of his Chicago heritage, he loved all sports and played baseball in college. An avid fisherman and Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed reading and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.


Friends may call two hours prior to the 1 p.m. Tuesday service celebrating his life at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Dale Turner will officiate with graveside services and burial to follow at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
