SOUTH BEND — Carl Ward Mills, 70, of South Bend, passed away in his sleep of natural causes at 12:26 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Kindred Healthcare Facility in South Bend.
He was born in Elkhart on the Fourth of July, 1941, to the late Harry E. and Doris Jean (Smith) Mills.
Surviving are his brothers, Harry Jr. of Elkhart, Arthur W. "Art" Mills of Jones, Mich., and Joseph E. "Joe" Mills of Osceola; and stepsisters Lois Heinzerling of Mason City, Iowa, Carol (Fred) Lapierre of Elkhart and Linda (Victor) Lapierre of Edwardsburg, Mich. A stepbrother, Roger Brandau, preceded him in death.
No services have been scheduled. Cremation has been planned and his remains will be buried with his mother at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola at a later date. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
