Memorial donations may be given to the Indiana Patriot Guard, 11349 S. 100 E Claypool, IN 46510.

Carl was the rock of his family; he loved his family and always had an inspiring message to share with them when times were tough. He served proudly in the United States Navy and was a member of the local Patriot Guard for many years. Carl was a hard worker who served for over 40 years as a railroad engineer before retiring on October 1, 2017. In his spare time, he enjoyed being on the ocean, whether it was sailing, swimming, or fishing. Sometimes, he and Jane would spend time on the Elkhart River, paddling from Oxbow Park to Studebaker.

Carl loved taking long motorcycle rides, it was his favorite pastime after retirement. However, being with his family made his world complete. Carl loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Having family cookouts where he could cook burgers, brats, and dogs for his family brought him joy and he could make the best glazed ham during holidays. Words cannot express how much Carl will be missed by his family. His lectures, the way he took the time to be a good teacher, and stories of his past made him unforgettable.
