Ms. Carissa A. "Criss" Staton, 42, of Edwardsburg, MI, passed away peacefully at her Eagle Lake home with her family at her side following an extended illness on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 12:56 pm.

Criss was born in South Bend on May 17, 1977 to Mr. and Mrs. Roger and Trudy (Westphal) Knapp of Cassopolis, MI.

She is also survived by her children Chelsea (Aron Martinez) Murray, Gabriel Ottman, Joseph Staton and Corbin McCall; grandchildren Lyric and Rozzie Murray and Margarita Martinez; sister Michelle Young Knapp; niece Jacquelyn Young and nephew Marcus Young, as well as a host of loving friends and extended family.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation is to take place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.

Criss was an RN in the Michiana area for over 10 years, working at the Wound Care Center at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka at the time of her medical retirement. She loved being on the lake, and enjoyed boating, tubing and fishing, as well as camping and working in her garden. She was also an avid stock car racing fan and enjoyed races at New Paris and Monticello.
