Carey Dean "Gary" Whitaker, 65, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital. Gary as his family and friends called him was born on December 11, 1953 in Niles, Michigan to the late Floyd M. Whitaker and Marybeth (Smith) Null. He is survived by his four sisters, Cindra Mikel, Beverly (Wendell) Hochstetler, Lynn E. (Larry) West and Dawn (Tony) Russo; brother Louis C. Null; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents and a sister Tonya Himes.

Gary attended Niles High School and worked as a welder for many years at Mor-Ryde in Elkhart.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation was chosen under the care of Billings Funeral Home and Altera Cremation Services.
