Obituary
ELKHART -- Candice Nicole Kirkland, 41, of Elkhart, passed away at 9:14 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at her home.
Candice was born Oct. 27, 1969, in Chicago, Ill.
She is survived by her father, Thurman L. Kirkland; mother Jacqueline (Robinson) Kirkland; stepmother Ruth E. Smith; three sons, Ryan, Christian C. and James M. Kirkland, all of Elkhart; three sisters, Latania Wilson, Brandi Kirkland and Sydney Kirkland, all of Chicago; and two brothers, Anthony D. Smith and Michael S. Kirkland, both of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by brother Michael L. Smith.
Candice was a graduate of Sullivan High School in Chicago and moved to Elkhart in 1997. She was a loving homemaker and was employed as a CNA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 6 p.m. celebration of life service on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Donald Smith will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
