Calvin E. Helbling, 88, of Goshen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in the comfort of his home and family. Calvin was born on May 31, 1936, in Elkhart to the late Emil and Elsie (Long) Helbling. He married Florence "Flo" A. Weaver on July 31, 1971, Flo died on April 10, 2019, after 47 years of marriage.

Surviving are his children, son Frank Miller; daughters, Holly K. Helbling, Leanne M. (Ronald) PeGan; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters Mary Clippenger and Judy Swihart.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Flo, son, Charles Miller, grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Calvin Miller, and Ronald PeGan II; also 3 brothers Kenneth, Emil Jr., Keith (Bob) Helbling, and a sister Donna Patton.

Calvin worked as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed raising poultry and formerly worked at New York Central Railroad. He liked gardening and chopping wood, In his early years, he enjoyed farming.

Funeral services for Calvin will begin at 1:00 pm Monday, September 23, 2024, with visitation from 11:00 am until service time at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Pastor John Schrock of Traditions Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Condolences may be made online at www.billingsfuneralhome.com
