Obituary

Byerl Otis Bowlby, 88, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2019.  He was born on June 5, 1930 in Elkhart to Donald and Edna M. (Kauffman) Bowlby.

He is survived by 3 nieces, Terri (Robb) Longacre, Berla Bowlby, Katrina (Tom) Canarecci; 4 nephews, Craig (Diane) Bowlby, Bruce Bowlby, Kevin Bowlby and Brian (Chris) Bowlby; brother Marvin (Joan) Bowlby as well as many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alma, 3 sisters, Frances Kindle, Shirley Chism, Willodean Larsen; 3 brothers Ernest and Austin Bowlby, Robert Heinz and nephew Barry Kindle.

Byerl lived in the Elkhart area his whole life and worked in production and manufacturing in the area.. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and life in Upper Michigan. He served his country during the Korean War with the U.S Marine Corps.

Services for Byerl will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. with visitation 1 hour prior. Pastor Tim Burchill of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery with military honors by the U.S Marine Corps Honor Guard and US Marine Corps League Detachment #1397.
